Not much time remains until nominations for the inaugural Rogers State University Distinguished Alumni Awards close.
This program, sponsored by the RSU Alumni Association, will recognize the successes of the university’s distinguished alumni and honor their achievements, beginning with the establishment of RSU’s predecessor institution, Claremore Junior College in 1972.
Although several nominations have already been submitted to the inaugural awards, RSU Director of Alumni Engagement Travis Peck said it’s not too late to submit an alumna or alumnus for consideration.
“With the introduction of the first Rogers State University Distinguished Alumni Awards, we will celebrate our alumni like never before, recognizing their accomplishments and honoring their legacy as graduates of RSU,” Peck said.
Nominations will remain open through Jan. 31, 2023, after which, an alumni committee will determine the winners in February. Award recipients will be announced at the RSU Alumni Awards dinner and ceremony Saturday, April 29, 2023.
Distinguished Alumni honors will be awarded in the following categories.
The RSU Alumni Rising Star award will go to someone who graduated within the last five years. This candidate will be one who hit the ground running right after graduation. The ideal candidate should be someone who has made significant changes in their community, led a business, and/or developed and established themselves as a recognizable talent while representing what it means to be a Hillcat.
The RSU Distinguished Hillcat award will go to someone who graduated since 2000. This award will honor a graduate of Rogers State University who has a record of significant accomplishment in their respective field and exemplifies the impact that a degree from Rogers State University can make.
The Hill Legacy Award is given to graduates from 1972 to 1999. Giving credit to those who came before us, this award is open to anyone that graduated from the university, prior to it becoming accredited as Rogers State University.
Various tiers of sponsorships for the dinner are still available, including Alumni Award Sponsors for $1,500, Grand Alumni for $1,000, and Table Sponsors for $500. Presenting Sponsor will be Rogers County Pet Hospital.
Additional information about the RSU Alumni Awards ceremony will be announced when it becomes available, and individual tickets will go on sale closer to the date of the event.
