The first gallery show for the spring semester will feature the works of current Rogers State University adjunct art faculty showing paintings, photographs, prints, ceramics and Native American arts and crafts.
A reception to open the exhibit will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, in the Baird Hall gallery. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will remain open until Feb. 3.
Featured in the show will be: Linda Coward, Susan McKee, Randi Narcomey, Micheal Jones, Steve Rosser and Victor Wildcat.
Gary Moeller, professor and department head of the Department of Fine Arts, said this group of faculty are both excellent instructors and respected artists who have shown their work regionally, nationally and internationally.
Linda Coward is a respected ceramicist in the Tulsa area, owner of the Brookside Pottery in Tulsa and a potter/sculptor with more than three decades of experience. Coward teaches 3-D art courses at the university.
Susan McKee is a renowned cinematographer/photographer who teaches online cinema courses for RSU.
An experienced graphic designer in the Tulsa area, Randi Narcomey teaches photography and art foundations course.
Micheal Jones and Steve Rosser are both well-respected painters and printmakers. One of the top watercolorists in Oklahoma, Jones has organized numerous one-man shows of his work, including a retrospective in the Oklahoma State Capitol, and a comprehensive exhibit at the Leslie Powell Foundation. Jones taught extensively at the college and high school level.
Rosser’s work has shown in galleries across the country and been published in various magazines, including ArtLines, as well as on album covers for major label releases. He has numerous years of teaching experience at the college level, including at RSU.
Victor Wildcat teaches the Cherokee language courses at both the Pryor and Claremore campuses. His innovative teaching style includes having students create art as a means of learning the language.
