Dr. Brian Andrews, professor and department head in the Department of Psychology and Sociology, has been named the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at RSU.
Dr. Brian Andrews has been named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Rogers State University. Prior to his naming as the College’s new dean, Andrews has served as a professor and department head in the Department of Psychology and Sociology.
Andrews is an anthropological archaeologist who has conducted research throughout the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains. He holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He earned a Master of Arts in anthropology from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Arts, also in anthropology, from SMU. He earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Oklahoma.
“I consider the arts and sciences to be the intellectual, cultural heart of any university,” Andrews said. “I look forward to promoting the mission by getting out, making sure the community knows the important work done by Arts and Sciences – getting our students ready. That’s my over-arching goal, to continue growing the university’s College of Arts and Sciences, and turning out good students.”
Dr. Susan Willis, vice president for academic affairs, is excited for Andrews to lead the College of Arts and Sciences.
“Dr. Brian Andrews shows great vision for RSU and believes strongly in collaboration both on and off campus,” Willis said. “We are excited to have him move into this leadership role.”
Andrews began his time at Rogers State University in 2007 as an interim instructor, moving to full-time in 2010 as an assistant athletic director then becoming full-time faculty in 2013. He was named Psychology and Sociology Department head in 2021.
Andrews will officially transition to dean of the College of Arts and Sciences on July 1, 2025, assuming the position from Interim Dean Dr. Frank Elwell.
RSU’s College of Arts and Sciences includes the university’s Department of Biology, Department of Communications, Department of English and Humanities, Department of Fine Arts, Department of History and Political Science, Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, and the Department of Psychology and Sociology.
