Dr. Lori O’Malley
Associate Professor of Psychology and Community Counseling
Dr. O’Malley joined the faculty at Rogers State University in January 2016. She brings a long history of providing therapy and leadership in community agencies as well as higher education with her. Over the course of her career, she has presented at numerous conferences including the National Children’s Defense Fund, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Association Annual Conference, Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and has been a repeat favorite at the Oklahoma Women in Higher Education Annual Conference.
In addition, Dr. O’Malley has developed her own training programs for Licensed Professional Counselors including supervision of those seeking licensure. As a point of interest, Dr. O’Malley has served as an expert witness in two murder trials.
Currently, Dr. O’Malley teaches in the areas of Psychology and Community Counseling. Students comment that she is entertaining and informative while making even the most difficult subjects easier to understand. To date her favorite class to teach is Human Sexuality, she says “The best part is that no one knows what to expect; it’s a serious subject, one that embarrasses most people including me, but we do have some fun with it.” A close second is Abnormal Psych about which she states “The exotic is always intriguing, you can’t get any more intriguing than the human mind. It’s rewarding to see students develop an understanding of what makes some people so different.”
