Nine students and faculty members from Rogers State University’s Department of Psychology and Sociology participated in the Northern Rocky Mountain Educational Research Association (NRMERA) Conference in Billings, Montana, Oct. 12-14.

Naomi Beckwith, Carrigan Veach and Lynn Williams presented research findings related to non-traditional students, belongingness and thriving, and eating disorders and trauma in males, respectively.

Olivia Cosper presented research alongside Dr. Sonya Munsell, associate professor of psychology and sociology, and Christi Mackey, assistant professor of psychology and sociology, over pride, hope, and resilience. Mikela Campos presented research on undergraduate students’ educational journeys alongside Dr. Sara K. Moon-Seo, assistant professor of psychology and sociology.

Dr. Lori O’Malley, associate professor of psychology and sociology, gave a presentation titled, “Vicarious Trauma in the Psychology Professorate.”

Two members of the RSU community received recognition or awards. Campos received the Dr. Gregory Schraw Student Fellowship, while Munsell was recognized for her dedication to attending the conference. Various networking opportunities resulted in Oklahoma being considered (voted on) next year as an official state recognized by NRMERA. Munsell was elected as the member-at-large representative and is now an official board member of NRMERA.
