UPDATE: The Pep Rally scheduled to take place at the Ne-Mar Center in Claremore will now be held at the Will Rogers Auditorium on the RSU campus. It will still begin at 7 p.m. The outdoor activities for Saturday’s “Hillcat Alley” event are being cancelled with remaining activities moving under the tent.
Rogers State University invites alumni, friends and Hillcat fans of all ages to its Homecoming 2014 celebrations on Nov. 21 and 22 in Claremore.
An expanded pep rally is slated for Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Ne-Mar Center, located at 1000 W. Will Rogers Blvd.
Fans can meet the Hillcat men’s and women’s basketball teams, see the RSU cheer squad, enjoy free food and listen to a country/rock concert from the Wilbur Lee Tucker Band.
Saturday’s activities start at 11 a.m. with “Hillcat Alley,” a pre-game, family-friendly celebration with free food from Billy Sims BBQ (while supplies last), photo booth, inflatables, games, contests and prizes held outside the Claremore Expo Center where the basketball games will be played.
The pep rally and pre-game activities are free and open to the public. The theme for this year’s events is “Hillcat Nation: The Legend Continues”
RSU President Dr. Larry Rice said homecoming activities are designed to be family friendly, and encourages community members to come out and support the basketball teams.
Both Hillcat teams will face off against Arlington Baptist College, with the women’s game tipping off at 2 p.m. and the men’s game following at 4 p.m.
The 2014 RSU Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of the men’s game. They will be joined by the Homecoming Prince and Princess from Claremont Elementary School, RSU’s partner in the Hillcub Program.
General admission game tickets can be purchased for $7 for adults or $4 for students and seniors. Children 12 and younger as well as all RSU students, faculty and staff (with ID) are free.
Homecoming activities will conclude with a special performance of RSU Theatre’s production of “Decision Height” at 7:07 p.m. in the Will Rogers Auditorium. Regularly priced admission is $12 for adults, $7 for seniors and $3 for RSU students, faculty and staff who present university ID. All proceeds will benefit student participation in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival regional competition. Tickets also may be purchased online.
