Rogers State University and RSU Radio is once again partnering with the Claremore Chamber of Commerce for a drive-through Christmas parade on its campus on December 4 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Christmas Around the World.”
“We had such a great time with last year’s parade,” Ashley May, director of communications for the chamber, said. “And with COVID-19 still very much in evidence, we want to do our part to carry on this holiday tradition while still keeping our community healthy. We hope to have an even bigger turnout from both participants and spectators this year. We are so thankful for RSU’s partnership in this endeavor. We couldn’t do this without them.”
Traditional floats or stationary displays will be set up in assigned spaces on campus, and the spectators will drive through the campus to admire the festivities. Participants might even spot jolly old Saint Nick. This year’s theme allows for plenty of ideas, whether it’s Australian Santa on a surfboard or a trendy Elf on the Shelf. The use of Christmas lights is a requirement for every entry.
Cars will enter at the Camden St. entrance, near the splash pad, and will exit on Will Rogers Blvd. Upon entrance, visitors will tune their car radio to 91.3 FM to hear RSU Radio’s line up of holiday tunes as spectators drive through campus to admire the festivities.
This parade is made possible by the generosity of sponsorships offered by Claremore businesses. The 2021 Claremore Christmas Parade sponsors include Presenting Sponsor: Rescue Heat & Air, and Star and Ribbon Sponsors: Neely Insurance, Solid Rock Realtors, Cherokee Nation Tribal Council – Keith Austin, BancFirst, and Price 66 Tire & Auto.
