Peter Macpherson, a computer scientist at the University of Redlands in California, has been named professor of computer science at Rogers State University.
Macpherson’s appointment was approved recently by the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents.
Macpherson will join the faculty of RSU’s Department of Applied Technology, located in the School of Business and Technology.
Previously, Macpherson served as associate professor of computer science at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif. He also has served as an associate professor of computer science at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
His academic specialty areas include parallel algorithms, network communications, modeling, programming languages and decision theory.
He is the author of several articles in scholarly journals including Molecular Physics and the Journal of Ballistics.
He has designed and taught courses in Java, networks, algorithm analysis and client-server programming, among other areas of computer science.
He received a doctoral degree and master’s degree from Lehigh University and a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University.
