Sign Up Information
Students must arrange in advance to take the computer proficiency examination before each scheduled exam date. Sign up using one of the following methods:
- Call 918-343-7608
- Sign up sheet in Herrington Hall, Room 105
Students must demonstrate computer proficiency, which includes the competent use of a variety of software and networking applications. This requirement may be completed through one of three options:
- successfully complete a high school computer science course that meets the State Regents’ high school curricular requirements; or
- satisfy RSU’s computer proficiency assessment; or
- successfully complete college-level course work that is designated at the academic department level for specific degree programs or successfully complete CS 1113.
Students are encouraged to complete the computer proficiency requirement within the first 24 semester hours attempted. Computer proficiency examinations are currently offered on the RSU Claremore campus.
Please Note: Prior to the examination date, students must pay $105.00 to the Office of the Bursar.
The Computer Proficiency Exam covers the same kind of material that is in CS 1113 Microcomputer Applications, including many advanced features of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, such as collaboration features, importing data, pivot tables, lookup tables, animation, and embedding multimedia. Students who enroll in CS 1113 Microcomputer Applications and do not satisfactorily complete the course cannot take the computer proficiency exam must retake CS 1113 Microcomputer Applications and earn a passing grade to fulfill the computer proficiency requirement.
