You are Invited to AeroGames 2025!
We are thrilled to invite you and your learners to join us for AeroGames 2025, an engaging and hands-on competition that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork through drone design, building, and piloting.
What is AeroGames?
AeroGames is a design, build, and fly drone competition designed to engage students in STEM learning in an exciting and applied manner. All necessary materials are provided free of charge by RSU. The competition is tailored to middle/junior high and high school teams, providing learners with an opportunity to apply engineering and problem-solving skills in a fun and interactive setting.
AeroGames
Friday, March 28, 2025
9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
RSU Claremore Campus – Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center
The event will feature two main components:
1. Design, Build, and Fly Challenge: Students will design and build their own mini-drone, then navigate it through a challenging obstacle course.
2. DJI Drone Piloting Event: Participants will pilot DJI drones through a separate course, testing their navigation and control skills.
Design and Build Details
- Drone Body Design: Learners are encouraged to get creative by designing drone bodies using any materials they choose. To support this process, we’ve created a self-paced 3D modeling “class” in TinkerCad. This course will guide students through the basics of 3D modeling and culminate in the creation of a customizable drone body.
- 3D Printing Support: If your school does not have access to a 3D printer, RSU is happy to 3D print your students’ designs. Simply send us the finalized designs at least two weeks prior to the competition.
- Mini-Drone Build: The mini-drone assembly includes attaching LEDs, which requires some soldering. RSU will provide soldering irons, tips, and solder. While students get to keep their completed drones, we kindly ask that soldering kits be returned on the competition day for use in future events.
Awards and Recognition
We will present trophies in the following categories for both Middle/Junior High and High School teams:
- 1st Place
- 2nd Place
- 3rd Place
- Best Design
- Best Crash
Team and Participation Guidelines
- Team Sizes: There are no restrictions on team size. However, we can provide a maximum of 10 AeroGames t-shirts per team.
- Participation Slots: We are accepting 20 teams on a first-come, first-served basis.
Why Participate?
AeroGames is not only an exciting competition but also an opportunity for students to develop skills in engineering, teamwork, and innovation. By participating, students gain experience in STEM fields, build their confidence, and strengthen their college and career readiness.
