The following research opportunities are available.

MS in Community Counseling Research Project: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Impact on Relationship Commitment; RB #17859

  • Description: This correlational study is designed to offer research experience to counselors-in-training and to ultimately contribute to the larger body of knowledge regarding the impact of childhood trauma on adult relationships. Participation is voluntary and confidential; no identifying information will be collected. Other graduate students in RSU’s graduate programs will be invited to participate, and informed consent is required. Participation will consist of completing brief demographic information (e.g., gender, race, ethnicity, age) and two online surveys: [1] The Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) scale (Felitti, et al; 1993); and [2] The Relationship Commitment Scale (Shumm, et al, 1986).

MS in Community Counseling Research Project: Family Matters: Resilience in College Students; RB #17858

  • Description: This quasi-experimental, ex post facto study is designed to offer research experience to counselors-in-training and to ultimately contribute to the larger body of knowledge regarding the impact of family structure and dynamics on resilience and personal choice. Participation is voluntary and confidential; no identifying information will be collected. Other graduate students in RSU’s graduate programs will be invited to participate, and informed consent is required. Participation will consist of completing eight demographic questions and the Resilience Scale.
