AA in Criminal Justice

Department Mission: The mission of the Department of Technology and Justice Studies is to support the SPS and RSU in their mission to prepare students to achieve professional and personal goals in dynamic local and global communities.

Degree Program Mission: The Associate in Arts in Criminal Justice Studies degree has been designed for individuals seeking a career in one of the components of the criminal justice system such as law enforcement, prosecution, or corrections. Hence, this degree has been structured to prepare criminal justice professionals to operate effectively within today’s legal environment balancing individual rights with the protection of society, interacting with a culturally diverse community, and protecting the public from increasingly complex threats.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate a written and oral ability to think critically.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and applying relevant legal and criminal justice concepts.

AAS in Applied Technology

Department Mission: The mission of the Department of Applied Technology is to support the School of Business and Technology and RSU in their mission to prepare students to achieve professional and personal goals in dynamic local and global communities.

Degree Program Mission: To provide students with a quality education in a technology area by emphasizing a combination of general education courses and a selection of courses in a technical specialty. The program develops a knowledge base through core courses and selected electives while advancing a general view of technology.

OSRHE State-wide Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Know and be able to apply the terminology and conceptual frameworks related to common organizational structures and basic operations in the workplace
  • Have the technical knowledge and skills expected of entry-level employees in their field of study
  • Demonstrate the professional/ethical behaviors essential in the workplace.

Additional RSU Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of currently standard computing tools such as internet browsers, email, word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of accounting, economics and management.

AS in Computer Science

Department Mission: The mission of the Department of Technology and Justice Studies is to support the SPS and RSU in their mission to prepare students to achieve professional and personal goals in dynamic local and global communities.

Degree Program Mission: To provide students with the necessary skills required to become competent in computer programming at the entry level, as well as to understand the significant issue s of how technology is changing the workplace; and to provide students with the academic background to seek a baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Information Technology.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate competence in analyzing problems, designing, and implementing programs to solve the problems using computer programming languages.
  2. Integrate the design, implementation and administration of computer networks.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of currently standard computing tools such as internet browsers, email, word processors, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

BS in Information Technology

Department Mission: The mission of the Department of Technology and Justice Studies is to support the SPS and RSU in their mission to prepare students to achieve professional and personal goals in dynamic local and global communities

Degree Program Mission: The Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology is designed to meet the growing demand for information technology specialists who are able to communicate effectively and are knowledgeable of business needs. Students may choose from options in Computer Network Administration or Software Development and Multimedia.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate competence in analyzing problems, designing, and implementing programs to solve the problems using computer programming languages.
  2. Integrate the design, implementation and administration of computer networks.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge and practical technology and business-oriented skills to compete in the modern business environment.
  4. Integrate the entire software life cycle including analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance.

BS in Justice Administration

Department Mission: The mission of the Department of Technology and Justice Studies is to support the SPS and RSU in their mission to prepare students to achieve professional and personal goals in dynamic local and global communities

Degree Program Mission: The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Justice Administration is to develop student mastery of fundamental knowledge and skills about substantive, procedural and operational aspects of law and justice so students may engage in Constitutional and ethical decision-making within the diversity of contemporary society as a criminal justice professional.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate cognitive learning by efficiently and effectively evaluating criminal justice related problems, issues and strategies to support informed decision-making that is successfully communicated in both oral and written form.
  2. Reveal progression of affective learning by decision-making that integrates respect for constitutional rights and protections, an ethical duty for evidence-based assertions and values the contributions of a diverse society.
  3. Experience the value of assimilating legal and scholarly authority into their problem-solving paradigm along with the duty of making meaningful contributions to society.
  4. Exhibit affective valuing through civic engagement with emphasis on that which educates the public about the criminal justice system, protects victims of crime and advocates equal justice for all.

BT in Applied Technology

Degree Program Mission: The Bachelor of Technology in Applied Technology is designed to provide educational opportunities for individuals who possess an Associate in Applied Science degree or equivalent and need additional education in order to perform job requirements or to advance their professional careers.

  1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of business and technology concepts, terminology and applications in current business environments.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of management principles
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of marketing principles.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of how to manage risk in current and future business environments.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of information systems.
