AA in Liberal Arts
Department Mission: The mission of the Department is to support students in their pursuit of knowledge and to prepare them for participation in the increasingly global culture of the 21st century.
Degree Program Mission: The Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts is designed to provide students with a sound grounding in our cultural heritage in a two-year degree which meets the general education requirements for transfer to a four-year degree.

BA in Liberal Arts

Degree Program Mission: The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts in an innovative, interdisciplinary degree that fosters students who think critically, creatively, and independently, and who have the skills to work in all type of situations and communicate with all types of people.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate creative and critical thinking
- Reflect meaningfully on one’s educational experience.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Western cultural heritage, and an appreciation of the diversity of perspectives on the human condition.
- Express satisfaction with the degree program.
BGS General Studies
Department Mission: The mission of the Department of English and Humanities is to support students in their pursuit of knowledge and to prepare them for participation in the increasingly global culture of the 21st century.
Degree Program Mission: The Bachelor of General Studies degree provides students with a rigorous alternative to a specialized education in a single discipline. The student will have the flexibility to choose two separate disciplines from a variety of fields in Math and Science, Liberal Arts, and Business and Technology. The degree consists of 18 to 24 hours of the core knowledge in each of the two chosen disciplines, allowing the student the flexibility to pursue their interests as well as prepare for the challenges of work, citizenship, and intellectual life. This General Studies degree, in combination with a minor course of study, provides students with a foundation of knowledge, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to succeed in many fields.

- Develop a level of mastery in two area concentrations
- Demonstrate effective use of research methods appropriate to the task and respective discipline
- Demonstrate the ability to locate resources for academic purposes and to evaluate their authenticity, validity, and reliability
- Create persuasive and well-reasoned arguments appropriate to topic and purpose
- Communicate in writing and speech with an awareness of audience by using language conventions appropriate to the occasion and task
- Display aptitude in drawing connections across courses and connect coursework to academic, professional, and social lives
Developmental Studies: Basic Writing & Developmental Reading
Department Mission: The mission of the Department is to support students in their pursuit of knowledge and to prepare them for participation in the increasingly global culture of the 21st century.
Developmental Studies Mission: The mission of Developmental Studies is to better equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their general education and degree coursework.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Students in P composition + supplement and Developmental Reading will demonstrate proficiency in fundamental writing and reading comprehensive skills as well as develop and demonstrate progress in specific skills and competencies needed in future classes.
