Students, faculty, staff and area residents learned about the dangers of the fentanyl epidemic in the Claremore community at a Fentanyl Town Hall event, co-hosted by Rogers State University and Light of Hope.
Held Sept. 10, the town hall featured a panel of experts who discussed the importance of fentanyl awareness and provided resources for families and community members about the dangers of fentanyl.
Panelists for the event included Chief Investigator for the 12th District Attorney’s Office Wayne Stinnett; Light of Hope Board President Steve Regier; Deputy Director for Rogers County Emergency Management Steve Massey; Rogers County District Attorney Matt Ballard; owner/operator of Efficient Energy Solutions, LLC, Kenny Brand; addiction survivor Ce’gon Shoeleh; and St. Francis Emergency Room Social Worker Kayla Chambers.
The event was moderated by RSU Drug Prevention Coordinator Roxanne Bilby, along with Nancy Phelps, executive director for Light of Hope. The session included comments from the panelists and a question and answer time to allow community/audience discussion.
