More than a dozen members of a senior Sunday school class from First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow came to the Hill Thursday, June 13, to tour the Oklahoma Military Academy Museum.
According to class leader Don Thompson, the group heard about the museum through longtime class member and OMA alumnus Dewey Wilson, who also serves as the Museum’s co-curator and tour guide.
“We’d heard about the (OMA) museum from Dewey for several years and decided that a trip to Claremore to have lunch and spend some time at the museum would make for a fun and educational outing for the class,” Thompson said.
The Oklahoma Military Academy Museum tells the story of the more than 10,000 cadets who attended OMA from 1919 to 1971, of whom, more than 2,500 served in the U.S. Armed forces in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. More than 100 OMA cadets gave their lives for their country.
The Oklahoma Military Academy Museum is located on the second floor of Meyer Hall on RSU’s Claremore campus.
