The deadline for incoming Rogers State University students to register for the Hillcamp student-orientation is fast-approaching, with registration to close July 14.
Slated for Aug. 14-17, Hillcamp is a four-day student orientation event held on RSU’s Claremore campus.
This annual event is designed to help incoming freshmen, transfer students, and other first-time students to prepare for their college experience through educating and equipping them to have an enjoyable and successful experience on the Hill.
“Hillcamp is the best way for new students to start building relationships and get plugged into their new life as a Hillcat, to ‘dip their toes’ into campus life, and what it means to be a Hillcat before the start of classes,” said RSU Student Activities Coordinator Katie Anderson.
During Hillcamp, “Hillcampers” are split into groups of around 10 and paired with two RSU upperclassmen for the duration of the camp, a unique opportunity that allows incoming students to bond with current students and foster a mentor/mentee relationship which often extends well past the duration of the camp.
Other benefits of attending Hillcamp include an early on-campus move-in (if applicable), establishing connections with staff and faculty, developing a strong sense of school spirit, learning about expectations of academic and social life on campus, learning one’s way around campus, learning about different activities and organizations on campus and within the Claremore community, and more.
Additionally, there are several fun activities held during the camp, including lip-sync battles, cardboard boat races, late-night scavenger hunts, trivia battles, water games and more.
The cost to attend Hillcamp is $70, which includes meals, a t-shirt, activity equipment, printed materials and resources, and an optional bus service to off-campus events.
Hillcamp 2024 leads into the beginning of the fall 2024 semester, with the first day of classes on Monday, Aug. 19.
Move-in for Hillcamp attendees will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Hillcamp 2024 has a limited number of spots available, so early registration is strongly encouraged.
