Submission of External Grants

Please note the following regarding the submission of external grants. No external grants should be submitted from the campus prior to “sign-off” from the following offices.

Step 1: The External Grant Routing Sheet (pdf) must be reviewed and signed by the faculty member’s dean to get approval for any release time, unit resources, etc.

Step 2: Receipt of DUNS number; review on guidelines, format and setup of FastLane.gov accounts, etc. Consult with Chief Technology Officer concerning technology needs if appropriate. Consult with appropriate committees on compliance issues as necessary, i.e. Recombinant DNA & Biohazard Safety, Human Subjects research, or Animal research.

Step 3: Office of Business Affairs review of indirect cost %, budget and/or match amounts.

Step 4: Office of Academic Affairs review of grant in totality to the institution, allocation of institutional resources, facilities, time and/or dollars.

Step 5: Institutional approval signature by the President or authorized representative must be obtained before the proposal can be submitted on behalf of the university.

External Grant Resources

Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Grant Program Opportunities: The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education offer multiple grant programs to institutions. Examples include the Summer Academy for Mathematics, Science and Multi-disciplinary Studies and Oklahoma Teacher Connection Collegiate Grants. This site provides information and Requests for Proposals (RFPs). OSHRE Grant Programs

Oklahoma ARTS Council: The Oklahoma Arts Council awards matching grants to cultural organizations, schools and local governments in order to increase resources available to non-profit organizations producing community arts and arts education programs throughout the state.

Oklahoma Humanities Council (OHC): Oklahoma Humanities accepts funding requests for projects that bring the ideas and insights of the humanities to life. Projects should engage humanities scholarship to analyze significant themes in disciplines such as history, literature, ethics, and art history. Oklahoma Humanities funding supports projects in three program categories: Public Programs, Preservation and Access Projects, and Education Projects.

Grants.gov: Grants.gov is a source to find and apply for federal grants. All federal agency grant opportunities are listed providing a comprehensive federal grant resource.  American Recovery Reinvestment Act opportunities are also listed in grants.gov.

National Science Foundation (NSF): The National Science Foundation is the funding source for nearly 20% of all federally supported basic research conducted by US institutions of higher education. Applicable disciplines include all sciences.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA): The NEA is a public agency dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts, both new and established; bringing the arts to all Americans; and providing leadership in arts education. NEA is the nation’s largest annual funder of the arts.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH): The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is an independent federal agency and one of the largest funders of humanities programs in the United States.  NEH grants typically go to cultural institutions, such as museums, archives, libraries, colleges, universities, public television, and radio stations, and to individual scholars. 

Organized Research Grant Program

The purpose of the Organized Research Grant Program at Rogers State University is to provide support for research and scholarly activities. The expected outcomes will be contributions to the institution’s strategic plan in academic innovation in support of research and scholarly activities.

Proposal submissions will now go through the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. 

Five Basic Goals of Organized Research at RSU:

  1. To promote faculty interest in research and scholarly activities
  2. To provide support for faculty and student projects in research and scholarly activities
  3. To increase the number of faculty who are engaged in and directing research and scholarly works
  4. To provide more opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in research and scholarly activities
  5. To enhance the reputation of RSU in the areas of research and scholarship

It is the intent to distribute a portion of the Organized Research Grant Program by the mechanism of Mini-Grants and Regular Grants. Proposal should be emailed to Dr. Mary Millikin, AVPAA at [email protected].
