Gary Moeller, head of the RSU Department of Fine Arts, will present a talk about his experiences in Italy this past summer. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 in room 207 of the Stratton Taylor Library.
Moeller traveled to Italy with 19 students and RSU Professors Bryce Brimer and James Ford for four weeks this summer. The group spent a majority of their time living and studying in Montone, a medieval village in the hill country of Umbria in central Italy.
Students took art and humanities classes taught by RSU professors and traveled to see world-renowned architecture and art in other parts of Italy. A trip to Rome included the Sistine Chapel and a trip to Florence included Michelangelo’s David.
Moeller said he will talk not only be about the trip itself but about the value of education abroad. Several students who took part in the study abroad program will join Moeller in discussing their experiences.
He also plans to show photos from the trip and to talk about plans to take another group back to Montone next summer.
