Rogers State University has announced a full week of fun and spirited activities slated to coincide with this year’s Homecoming week, taking place Feb. 3 to 11. Various activities will be held by the RSU Alumni Association and the Division of Student Affairs.
Kicking things off will be “Paint the Town” Friday, Feb. 3, in Claremore, during which, volunteers will liven up select downtown business windows with the painting of Hillcat-themed artwork and imagery. “Paint the Town” is a student-led event and is co-sponsored by Spectrum Paint and Claremore Main Street.
From 6 to 10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, J. Farley’s will host karaoke singing to encourage patrons to tap into their musical side for homecoming.
On Tuesday, Feb. 7, international students will be recognized and honored at an International Flag Ceremony at 6 p.m. in the ballroom of the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center.
Following this, Bingo will be held in the Chapman Dining Hall, beginning at 8 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to top winners, including gift cards from Oklahoma Pizza Company, She Brews Coffee House, Bill and Ruth’s, El Charro’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant, and Dot’s Café, as well as RSU gear and Apple Airpods Pro. A Rogers State University ID is required to participate in Bingo night.
On Wednesday, Feb. 8, students are welcome to participate in a dodgeball tournament to be held in Bushyhead Fieldhouse beginning at 6:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. According to Student Activities Coordinator Katie Anderson, there will be some restrictions on team sizes and co-ed team members, with these details being announced at a later date.
RSU Hillcats basketball games will take place Thursday, Feb. 9, with the RSU women’s team playing against Northwest Missouri at 5:30 p.m. in the Claremore Expo Center, followed by the RSU men’s team slated to face off against Northwest Missouri at 7:30 p.m.
RSU Homecoming 2023 commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase at this event for $5 without a student ID or $1 with a student ID while supplies last.
The Homecoming Dance will be held 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at 320 on Main in downtown Claremore. The dance is free, but an RSU ID is required. Additionally, current students are allowed to bring one non-RSU student as a guest, who will be asked to sign-in upon arrival.
Saturday, Feb. 11, will be Homecoming Gameday, with the RSU women’s basketball team squaring off against Missouri Western at 1:30 p.m. and the RSU Men’s team playing against Missouri Western at 3:30 p.m., both in the Claremore Expo Center.
During halftime, RSU athletics will recognize the 2023 Athletics Hall of Fame inductees, and the Homecoming Court will be announced. RSU Homecoming 2023 commemorative t-shirts will also be available for purchase on game day.
Before and during the games, several local vendors – including RSU Bookstore — will make up Hillcat Alley, offering complimentary snacks and games, such as Pop-a-Shot, giant Jenga, Connect 4, and more.
