Jacob Daniel, a sophomore at Rogers State University, has been designated a Brad Henry International Scholar. He will spend the spring semester participating in an international study abroad program at Swansea University in Wales.
Daniel is the second RSU student to be selected for the program this year, joining senior Valerie Vernon. He was chosen from a pool of candidates representing several state universities.
A 2009 graduate of Claremore High School, Daniel is studying political science at RSU and plans to pursue a law degree after graduating. He is a member of the RSU Honors Program, participates in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature competition and serves on the Student Government Association Judicial Review Board.
“I was able to visit London last year and I’m very excited to have a semester-long study abroad opportunity,” he said. “I’m also looking forward to the possibility of taking a legal course while I’m there.”
Established by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education in June 2008, the State Regents provide a $10,000 stipend for students selected to participate in semester-long study or research programs affiliated with Swansea University.
“Students selected for this program demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and dedication to service. Jacob embodies all of these qualities,” said Dr. Carolyn Taylor, RSU assistant professor and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator. “We look forward to him sharing what he learns upon his return to RSU.”
