Brittany Crawford (B.A. ’06) will visit Rogers State University on Friday, Sept. 24, to read from her children’s book “I Sit in a Wheelchair… But I Will Be Okay.”
She will share the story, which has many similarities to the challenges of her own life, with students at RSU’s Child Development Center and sign copies of the book.
The reading will take place at the RSU Child Development Center from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All members of the RSU community are invited to attend. Copies of the book will be available for $10.
Crawford, who has had cerebral palsy since birth, currently lives in her hometown of Cecil, Ark. Though she is not in a wheelchair like the central character of her first book, she is not able to drive.
In Cecil, Crawford writes for the local newspaper and is active in her church and the local book club.
She hopes this book will be the first in a series of “I Will Be Okay” books for children. She also plans to write an adult memoir based on her relationship with her illustrator, Michelle Oakley of Sperry, Okla.
Crawford’s book was published in February 2010 and is available online through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million and Hastings.
