Rogers State University will host the 83rd convention of the Oklahoma Speech, Theatre and Communication Association (OSTCA) on Saturday, Sept. 11, on the RSU campus in Claremore.
During the conference, students and educators from colleges and universities across the state will share their research via panels, poster presentations, workshops and a public relations competition.
“Hosting this prestigious convention is quite an honor for RSU,” said Dr. Jeff Gentry, head of the RSU Department of Communications. “We are pleased to welcome college and university students and faculty from across the state.”
Most sessions will be held in the newly expanded and renovated Baird Hall.
The conference keynote speaker is bestselling author Jim Stovall, who overcame the barrier of blindness to become a nationally known investment broker, entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker.
Stovall is co-founder and president of the Emmy-winning Narrative Television Network, which produces motion pictures and television programs for the 13 million Americans who are blind or visually impaired. His bestselling book, “The Ultimate Gift,” was made into a major motion picture starring Academy Award nominees James Garner and Abigail Breslin. Stovall is a graduate of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
The keynote speech and luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Ballroom of the RSU Centennial Center. Limited seating is available to the public for $25 by calling (918) 343-6825.
