Erica Taylor, a junior majoring in communications at Rogers State University, has received the Sadie Adwon Memorial Scholarship from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation.
Taylor, who is from Houston, is one of only six students to receive scholarships from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters this year, and the second RSU student to receive the Sadie Adwon Memorial Scholarship in the last three years.
In 2007, RSU communications major Candice Nivision, of Tulsa, received the Sadie Adwon scholarship.
The scholarship is named for Sadie Adwon, one of the first female radio journalists in Oklahoma.
To be eligible for Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters scholarships, students must be enrolled in a broadcasting program at an Oklahoma college or university, be a junior or senior, maintain a minimum average grade of “B” in all courses, carry at least 12 hours during the scholarship year and plan to enter the broadcasting field after graduation.
Taylor was recognized at the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters Student Day Conference on April 9 at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.
