The Walton Family Foundation has awarded a grant of $5,000 to the Rogers State University Foundation in support of its Dewey Spirit Scholarship Endowment Fund.
The grant was announced recently by the Walton Family Foundation, based in Bentonville, Ark.
“The generous support of the Walton Family Foundation will allow us to expand the educational opportunities available to young people in Dewey,” said RSU President Larry Rice.
The Dewey Spirit Scholarship Endowment Fund was initiated in 2009 by Marshall and Tana McGraw of Dewey and the RSU Foundation.
The scholarships are awarded to a few qualified seniors at Dewey High School each spring, and help them pay for tuition, fees, books and other college-related expenses at RSU.
“Many of these young people are first-generation college students,” said Marshall McGraw. “Together with their initiative, this scholarship fund provides a financial boost to help them succeed.”
