Master’s in Community Counseling Admission Standards
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Academic Transcripts
- Resume or Vitae
- Letter of Intent / Personal Statement
- Letters of Recommendation
Applications will be reviewed with students being granted one of three admission formats:
- Full Admission: Applicant meets or exceeds all expectations (listed above), as determined by a committee.
- Conditional Admission: Applicant meets or exceeds all of the criteria for full admission with the exception of missing GRE or MAT scores; GRE or MAT scores are to be submitted prior to enrollment for the second semester in the program.
- Provisional Admission: Applicants not meeting the expectations for GRE or MAT scores may enroll in no more than nine (9) credit hours of coursework in the program while on provisional status. To gain Full Admission status, students must complete a minimum of nine (9) credit hours in the program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 as well as meet all other entrance requirements.
Application Instructions
Step 1: To apply for the RSU MSCC program, interested students must first be admitted to RSU. Submit the Application for Admission to RSU
Step 2: Official transcript of your bachelor’s degree from an accredited university as well as official transcripts for all colleges and universities attended are required.

Step 3: The following documents are required to be admitted into the MSCC program and should be submitted to the Office of Admissions.
- Letter of Intent/Personal Statement: Provide highlights from your background related to counseling, your reasons for applying to the program, your academic goals, and your professional plans and goals.
- Letters of Recommendation: You may submit 3 letters from recommenders or ask for the recommendation form to be sent to your recommenders.
