Students at Claremont Elementary School got a surprise this week, as the Rogers State University Alumni Association delivered more than 500 gift bags and basketballs as part of the group’s annual Hillcub Adoption drive.
Members of the Alumni Association and representatives of the university packed a bus full of the gift-bundles and delivered them in person at the school.
This year’s drive, dubbed Hillcubs on the Move, is aimed at helping the students be more active. In addition to the basketball, every student in the school from pre-kindergarten through the 5th grade received a sport bag stuffed with a a jump rope, a “Future Hillcat” T-shirt, a water bottle, a Frisbee and a coloring sheet.
“We wanted to make sure that all of our Hillcubs had access to something that would help them stay healthy this holiday season,” said Marisa Littlefield, director of the RSU Alumni Association.
In case the children need some inspiration, their gift bags also include signed pictures of the RSU basketball team and tickets to some basketball games.
The Alumni Association is still accepting donations to cover he costs associated with this year’s drive. For more information about the Hillcub Adoption Program or to make a tax-deductible contribution, call Marisa Littlefield at 918-343-6816.
