Artwork by Rogers State University junior Francyne Melberg will feature prominently in this year’s Art on the Hill promotional materials.
Her ink and watercolor painting, “The Hills of Montone,” was adapted to work with the event’s logo and forms the basis for the poster, advertising pieces and social media promotions.
Melberg, a graphic design major from Catoosa, said the painting was based on a series of abstract paintings that she made while in Italy for RSU’s Summer Art program.
She and her fellow students arrived in the village of Montone during as the sun was setting, a period artists and photographers call the golden hour because of the soft, golden-pink hues that bathe the countryside.
“There were hills as far as you could see. Some had olive groves, some grape vines and some pastures. It just created this amazing collage of different patterns. It was amazing, very inspiring,” she said.
RSU’s Art on the Hill art show and sale will run Sept. 20-21 on the Claremore campus. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature art demonstrations, live music, theatre, food, children’s activities and more.
