The Rogers State University Fine Arts Film Series will present “Moonrise Kingdom” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, at the Will Rogers Auditorium on RSU’s Claremore Campus. The show is free and open to the public.
Dr. Hugh Foley, professor of fine arts at RSU, said that “Moonrise Kingdom” earned critical acclaim during this year’s awards season, including an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay and a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Picture – Musical or Comedy category.
Directed and co-written by Wes Anderson, “Moonrise Kingdom” is a romantic comedy/drama that follows the story of two 12-year-olds who fall in love during a 1965 New England summer. The pair make a secret pact and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to track them down, a violent storm brews off-shore and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle.
The film is rated PG-13 and is free and open to the public.
