Rogers State University’s Hillcat Cheer team will host a cheerleading clinic Saturday, Jan. 25, for area elementary school students. Registration for the event closes Friday.
After sharpening their jumps, cheers and dancing skills during the 3-hour clinic at RSU’s Bushyhead Fieldhouse in Claremore, participating children will perform for the public during halftime of the RSU men’s basketball game, scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Claremore Expo Center.
The deadline to reserve a place in the clinic and pay the $35 registration fee is Friday.
“This is a great opportunity for kids interested in cheer to learn from an award-winning cheer squad,” said Misty Smith, RSU’s director of student development and the cheerleading team coordinator.
RSU’s Hillcat Cheer team has finished in the top 10 nationally for the last two years, including a fifth-place finish this year and a seventh-place finish in 2012.
Boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth-grade are eligible to participate.
