Cecilia Townsend, a Rogers State University Spanish instructor, has been named the Stratton Taylor Library Patron of the Year as part of this week’s celebration of National Library Week.
Alan Lawless, director of RSU’s Stratton Taylor Library, said Townsend has helped the library build its Spanish collection with both print and audiovisual materials. He went on to describe her as a voracious reader who has been complementary about the library and its services to students and faculty.
“I am honored to receive recognition as the RSU Stratton Taylor Library Patron of the Year as part of the Celebration of National Library week,” she said. “I encourage students, faculty and staff to take advantage of the many services being offered by our library. The library can nurture our intellectual curiosity so we can better understand and appreciate our potential as human beings.”
The recognition came as part of Stratton Taylor Library’s participation in National Library Week, an annual celebration of libraries and librarians organized by the American Library Association.
This year’s events were held on April 13-19 with the theme is “Lives Change @ Your Library.” Library supporters are encouraged to share via social media the impact libraries have made in their lives, while using either the #LivesChange or #NLW14 hashtag.
A recent survey of Stratton Taylor Library users included many positive comments from students about the library and its staff in assisting student research, providing an effective place to study and helping students get better grades through its numerous on-site and online resources.
