Securing financing for small businesses is one of the most difficult challenges faced by entrepreneurs. To help entrepreneurs learn the ins and outs of financing their business, the Rogers State University Innovation Center is hosting a small business workshop titled “Financing Your Business.”
The workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 1, at the RSU Innovation Center, located at 2000 University Drive on the Claremore campus. The workshop will be presented by Rose Washington, executive director of Tulsa Economic Development Corporation (TEDC).
Through the Creative Capital loan program, TEDC finances small businesses throughout Oklahoma. Public and private funds are used to make direct loans to business owners and to lend money through financial institutions. Special consideration is given to companies that create and retain jobs as well as to entrepreneurs who have traditionally faced barriers to economic opportunity including women and minorities.
“Entrepreneurs are typically not taught how to approach a lender. This workshop will help them learn the best approach to take when approaching a private lender as well as how to package a loan request,” said Dr. Ray Brown, vice president for economic and community development at Rogers State University.
In the workshop, Washington will teach entrepreneurs and small business owners everything they ever wanted to know about financing their business.
Participants will learn about specific topics such as:
- government guaranteed loan programs
- non-traditional loans
- application process
- expectations of all lenders
Advance registration is required. The registration fee for the workshop is $15 and must be paid at time of registration. To register or for more information contact the RSU Innovation Center at (918) 343-7533 or email class=”MsoHyperlink”> [email protected].
