Rogers State University Public Television is launching the station’s inaugural Winterfest membership drive at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 with the Statler Brothers Farewell Concert.
The 12-day drive finishes at 10 pm on Sunday, December 10th. Viewers will be asked to become annual contributors to the growing station, so RSU Public TV can provide better programming and create new local shows in standard and high definition.
“We want the public to invest in programming that enhances people’s lives. Their investment helps us purchase and create better programming for them and their families,” said Dan Schiedel, general manager for RSU Public TV.
The station, based on RSU’s Claremore campus, reaches about 1.2 million people within a 75-mile radius of the campus and is proud to be Oklahoma’s only full-powered television station operated on a public university.
There will be several live pledge events during the membership drive, including a Wood Turning special with local celebrity Tim Yoder, a special painting demonstration by Jerry Yarnell, and a special guest appearance by Rob McClendon from Oklahoma Horizon.
Other educational and entertaining programs will air during the 12-day drive. Special broadcasts will include musical programs by Pink Floyd and Alison Krauss. For more details please check local listings. Many volunteers are working with RSU Public TV staff members during the fundraising drive to make it a success, Schiedel said.
Everyone who pledges during Winterfest will be eligible to win the original Jerry Yarnell Painting that he will create on air during a live pledge event, a special New Year’s Eve dinner for two with an overnight stay at the romantic Jarrett Farms Resort. The station also has a number of thank you gifts that viewers will receive for their generous contribution to the station. RSU Public TV broadcasts on UHF Channel 35, Tulsa and Claremore cable channel 19 and cable and satellite systems across northeastern Oklahoma.
