A new local talk show focusing on sports at Rogers State University and other area schools has begun airing on RSU Radio FM 91.3.
The program, titled “Outside the Lines: A Look at Local Sports,” is the first all-talk show on RSU Radio and is hosted by Chris Anderson, an RSU senior majoring in communications and fine arts. The program will air from 9-11 a.m. each Tuesday.
Anderson has produced a variety of shows on RSU Radio during his college career. He created this new program based on another sports show he co-hosted over the summer. “I think this program will be a great avenue to introduce our local high schools to the excellent sports programs and facilities at RSU,” he said.
Joining Anderson each week for his insights and commentary will be Wren Baker, RSU athletic director and head men’s basketball coach. “I am excited to be a part of the ‘Outside the Lines’ program with Chris. Northeastern Oklahoma is a hotbed for collegiate and high school sports and I know that this program will allow listeners to learn more inside information about their favorite teams” said Baker.
During the program, Anderson will present the “Baker’s Dozen,” in which he will ask Coach Baker a series of 13 questions based on recent area sports coverage and events.
Also on hand throughout the year will be Ron Bradley, RSU head baseball coach, and Dawn Reed, RSU head softball coach, who will keep listeners informed about their teams. “This will be a great opportunity to promote RSU baseball, our players and our athletic program to area listeners,” Bradley said.
In addition, area high school sports along with coaches’ interviews and comments will be featured each week. As the former color announcer for the Claremore Zebra football team, Anderson also will feature weekly updates from RSU Radio’s football announcers Bryant Ferguson and Tadd Jones.
“With the expansion of sports at RSU, this type of show is a natural,” said Cathy Coomer, RSU Radio general manager. “We are excited about seeing the program grow and are committed to on-going coverage of RSU sports.”
