Eleven seniors in the Department of Fine Arts will show works ranging from mixed-media pieces to photography as part of the Fall 2014 Senior Capstone Exhibition, which opens Friday at 5 p.m., Nov. 21, in the Foundations Gallery on the Rogers State University Claremore campus.
The show is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served during the opening reception.
Associate Professor Michael McKeon said the show represents the culmination of the students’ art education at RSU. Each one spent the semester planning and executing all new works of art.
“This should be a very exciting event,” he said. “It’s a group of outstanding artists, and we anticipate work to be of the highest caliber.”
The students presenting are Faith Blickensdorfer of Claremore, Deandra Butler of Claremore, Jonas Holloway of Tulsa, Alana Joyner of Langley, Brittany Kelley of Kellyville, Stephanie Kelso of Sand Springs, Francyne Melberg of Catoosa, Stefanie Purcell of Claremore, Isaac Scott of Inola, Jordan Wong of Claremore and Erico Zetina of Pryor.
“These are students who believe art has the power to transform an individual’s thinking. Each one has a message to communicate through their art,” McKeon said.
The art will remain in Foundations Gallery through the end of the semester.
