Dr. William D. Hart has been named assistant professor of health sciences at Rogers State University.
His appointment was approved recently by the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, the governing board for RSU. He will join the faculty of the RSU Department of Health Sciences this fall.
Dr. Hart has an academic background in nutrition, public health and gerontology. He most recently served as associate professor in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at St. Louis University, where he has taught since 1991. He also has served on the faculties of Texas Woman’s University in Houston and Wayne State University in Detroit.
He has conducted a wide range of research in health and nutrition, including the effects of gender and ethnicity on the nutrition of elderly residents of southwestern Louisiana, the effects of body weight on mortality and the quality of life in AIDS patients.
He received a doctoral degree in human nutrition from Michigan State University, completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas, and received a master’s degree in biochemistry from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
