Students with Rogers State University’s Accounting Society are volunteering their services to help area residents with their taxes.
Accounting Society members are participating along with RCB Bank and the Community Action Project as part of the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. The program provides free tax help to area residents with low or limited incomes and those with disabilities. Assistance also is available for non-English speaking and elderly taxpayers.
To prepare for their participating in this service project, the students and other program volunteers underwent eight hours of tax preparation training, said RSU Accounting Society advisor Carrie Hughes.
