The Claremore Regional Hospital Auxiliary recently presented a gift of $10,000 to the Rogers State University Foundation.
The gift will be added to the principal of the Claremore Regional Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Endowment.
The endowment, which was established by the auxiliary in 1990, provides scholarships to second-year RSU nursing students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.
“We are pleased to support the highly respected nursing program at RSU and to help educate the nurses of tomorrow,” said Sandra Slanker, auxiliary president
The Claremore Regional Hospital Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that provides support to Claremore Regional Hospital and other organizations, including RSU, through proceeds of the hospital gift shop, vending machines and “first baby” photos. Members of the auxiliary board include Slanker, Marsha Chisum, director of volunteers, Carol Akerman, Doris Butler, Maxine Layton, Jean Moore, Frankye Needham, Billie Towne and Patricia Pixley.
“We are very appreciative of the generous support of the auxiliary,” said Linda Andrews, director of the RSU nursing program. “Their long-standing support of the RSU nursing program is a key to our success and the improvement of health care in this region.”
