Dr. Sally Emmons has been named Assistant Professor of English at Rogers State University.
The appointment was approved by the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents at its recent meeting in Lawton.
Emmons will teach courses in English and Native American Studies in RSU’s Department of Communications and Fine Arts.
Previously, Emmons served as a Visiting Professor at RSU, teaching courses in composition and logic. She also has served as an Adjunct Professor and Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma.
She received a doctoral degree in English from OU. Her dissertation focused on the role of humor in tribal cultures, with special emphasis on the use of humor in contemporary Native American literature and art. She received a master’s degree from OU and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
Her academic specialties include Native American art and literature and contemporary American literature. She received a variety of academic honors and awards as a graduate student at OU.
She is a resident of Owasso.
