Artist registration remains open until Oct. 31 for the upcoming Art on the Hill art festival and sale at Rogers State University to be held the first weekend in November.
This is the sixth year for the Art on the Hill event, which will be held on the Claremore campus on Nov. 5-6. The event will showcase works of Oklahoma artists and seeks to cultivate student talents throughout northeastern Oklahoma. The event is also open to area artists, and the artist participation fee is $75, with $25 from each entry fee going directly to benefit RSU students. No commission will be taken from art sales.
Art on the Hill will be held inside Baird Hall, home to RSU’s Department of Fine Arts. The event will allow visitors to stroll through the art exhibits, experience live art demonstrations, participate in children’s activities and enjoy live music.
Art on the Hill will feature works from artists from area elementary, junior high or high schools. Teachers or parents may complete the entry forms online. There will be no cost for young artists to display their work, which will not be part of the sale.
Event proceeds benefit fine arts for RSU area students attending. Sponsors for this year’s event include Union Pacific and Oklahoma Arts Council.
That weekend, the Claremore campus also will be hosting the 19th annual RSU Native American Heritage Festival on Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Centennial Center ballroom. Both events, which are part of Claremore’s Will Rogers Days celebration, are free and open to the public.
