Dr. Susan Willis came to Rogers State University in 2007 as a Department Head. In 2015 Dr. Willis assumed the role of Interim Dean of the School of Business and Technology and in 2016 became the Dean of the newly formed School of Professional Studies. In 2023, her title was changed to Academic Dean and she is the Dean over both Colleges at RSU.
Dr. Willis moved to Claremore from Ada, OK, where she was a Department Head and Professor at East Central University for 19 years. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Wyoming and a Ph.D. from Texas Woman’s University. Her early research interests were in bone mineral density but, after moving into the administrative role at ECU, she worked in curriculum development and revised and began several new degree programs and accreditations at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Willis has continued curriculum initiatives at RSU including design and addition of option areas to Sport Management, Allied Health, and MBA degrees. Over the past two years, she and her department heads have developed 23 micro-credentials/badges for the School of Professional Studies. Dr. Willis has worked to increase the graduate offerings at RSU and is forming the new Office of Graduate Studies to oversee expansion in this area.
Dr. Willis is married to Bob Willis, who is a retired business faculty member at RSU. She has two daughters and three grandchildren.
