Students at Rogers State University will have free access to a professional closet thanks to a generous donation from a local community member.
RSU Career Services has announced the launch of Career Closet, a collection of men’s and women’s professional and casual business apparel. Career Closet was started to help students meet their career goals through assistance with obtaining professional attire.
“Career Services is excited for the inauguration of the Career Closet as yet another way to empower our students for success after their time on the Hill,” said Calli Knight, Coordinator of Career Services at RSU. “The timing could not be better as the multidisciplinary Career, Internship, and Graduate School Fair on April 5 is not far away!”
Knight said the Career Closet was only an idea until a Claremore community member donated several suits to the university for students to use. The donor, who prefers to remain anonymous, said they wanted to help students by boosting their confidence and self-esteem and helping them make the most of their professional opportunities.
“We’re grateful for the generosity of our community,” Knight said. “We look forward to using this gift to help our students succeed.”
The closet will include both casual business attire as well as suits for men and women. Students who wish to use the closet either may be referred by an RSU faculty or staff member or make an appointment through the Student Affairs office. Students who use the attire have the option of keeping it or returning it after it has been cleaned.
Career Closet will be funded through donations of gently used, nearly-new professional clothing and monetary donations, which will be used for dry cleaning fees and replenishing the closet as needed.
