Biology Club to Host Haunted Trail at RSU

UPDATE: Haunted Trail Event Canceled, ‘Big Top on the Hill’ Relocated to Expo Center. The RSU Haunted Trail Committee has decided to cancel Friday night’s Haunted Trail event due to the inclement weather that is forecasted. The Kiddie Fair (a tandem event to the Haunted Trail) known as “Big Top on the Hilltop” will continue, but the location for this has changed to the Expo Center in the corral area. The organizers regret the necessity of these changes, but are committed to providing something fun for area children who attend.

Claremore has some new spooky new fun to look forward to this Halloween.

The Biology Club at Rogers State University is hosting a Haunted Trail at the Conservation Education Reserve on Friday, Oct. 30. Tickets for the trail will be $5, and all proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Tulsa.

The Haunted Trail will allow participants to take a self-guided tour through the nature reserve on foot where they will encounter the monsters and creatures that populate the woods on the eve of Halloween. The trail is recommended for people ages 13 and older.

The Haunted Trail will be held in conjunction with the Big Top on the Hilltop Kiddie Fair, a new family-friendly holiday festival that is free and open to the public. The all-ages kiddie fair will feature face painting, pumpkin decorating, a costume contest and various games. The fair will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the trail opening at sunset.

Tori Record, a biology – medical/molecular junior and Vice President of the Biology Club, said several campus organizations are helping with the event, including the President’s Leadership Class, Student Nurses Association, Alpha Sigma Tau, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Criminal Justice Society, Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature, Native American Students Association and Student Theatre Organization.

She hopes the event provides the community with both a fun way to spend Halloween and an opportunity to support a local organization.
