Rogers State University in Pryor will host a series of lectures this fall featuring faculty from its School of Business and Technology discussing topics geared towards area business leaders and community members.
Each lecture will begin at noon in the RSU Pryor Auditorium, located at the new RSU campus in the MidAmerica Industrial Park, 2155 Highway 69A. Admission is free and open to the public.
The series kicks off on Wednesday, September 23, with RSU business instructor David LeCount presenting “3 Must-Haves for Every Entrepreneur and 7 Indicators for Success.”
LeCount, who previously served as director for the RSU Innovation Center, joined the university in February 2014. He earned a master’s degree in technology commercialization from the University of Texas and an MBA from the University of Tennessee. He earned bachelor’s degrees in business management and economics from North Carolina State University. He also is a Certified Project Manager through Stanford University.
On Wednesday, October 28, RSU business instructor Paula Gorden will present “PC Self Defense,” which will show individuals and businesses how they can protect themselves and their computers from dangerous emails, websites and computer files.
Gorden joined the RSU faculty in 2012 after a decade teaching at Northeastern State University. In addition to being a CPA, she also is a Certified Fraud Examiner, the sole instructor for forensic and fraud major courses at RSU and serves as RSU’s staff liaison for the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants, which recognized her as its Outstanding Educator of the Year award in 2013. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of New Orleans and an MBA from NSU.
On Wednesday, November 18, RSU sport management instructor Eric Newendorp will present “The Business End of the Sports Business” discussing the business side of sports and how to break into the business.
Newendorp has more than two decades experience in professional and collegiate sports, including working with the Colorado Eagles and Denver Cutthroats of the Central Hockey League, Hunt Sports Group that oversaw FC Dallas and the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer, Oklahoma Sports Enterprises affiliated with the Tulsa Shock, and the University of Tulsa’s sports properties. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in education-sports administration from Canisius College. He has been teaching at RSU since 2013.
