RSU will break ground on the Case Athletic Performance Center Thursday, April 17, at 11 a.m. The public is invited.

Student-athletes at Rogers State University will no longer have to practice in inclement weather as the school plans to break ground on a new indoor practice facility at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17, at the RCB Bank Sports Complex. The public is encouraged to attend. The RCB Bank Sports Complex is located west of the RSU campus on Blue Starr and houses the university’s softball and baseball fields.

The facility is being built by the Rogers State University Foundation with funds provided by private donors. RSU will name the facility the Case Athletic Performance Center in recognition of a major gift provided by Mike and Pat Case of Tulsa.

When completed, the facility will provide more than 10,000 square feet of practice space. While the primary tenants will be the baseball, softball and golf teams, other teams will also be able to utilize the space.

“Our teams have needed this space for a long time, and we are grateful to the Cases and the RSU Foundation for supporting this project,” said Dr. Chris Ratcliff, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. “Having this space will cut down on injuries and help us in recruiting the best student-athletes to RSU.”

With the exception of four years spent in northwest Arkansas, Tulsa has always been Mike Case’s home. While attending Pea Ridge High School in Arkansas, he was a multi-sport athlete and his athletic talent landed him a football scholarship.

Upon graduation, Case and his wife, Pat, moved to Tulsa and began building his career as a real estate developer. Case began his own company, Case & Associates, in 1983 with four employees and only two management contracts. Case & Associates now manages over 30,000 units across six states and continues to grow.

While construction on the facility is beginning, the RSU Foundation is still seeking gifts to fully fund the project. Interested individuals or groups can contact Steve Valencia, Vice President for Development, at (918) 343-7780 or at [email protected].
