Types of Funds
What types of funds are available?
Dining Dollars are for meal purchases by University Housing residents. As per the contract, all residents in University Village complexes are required to have $1,095 per semester unless he/she requires Scholar Dollars.
Scholar Dollars are meal scholarships that an individual receives as part of his/her scholarship. Scholar Dollars are for meal purchases only.
Cat Cash can be used to purchase items at Food Services locations, laundry services in UVA and UVB, and copier services at the Library. Unlike Dining and Scholar Dollars, you have to pay in advance through Bursar's Office or online through eAccounts to add money to your account.
What happens to funding?
Early move-outs: If you are granted a contract release, your Dining Dollars are pro-rated based the actual date that you move-out of your University Village unit. If you have not used the required amount based on sixteen week schedule, you may be eligible for a refund assuming that you have already paid account in full. With Scholar Dollars, the department who awarded the Scholar Dollars determines what happens to funds.
End of Fall Semester: Cat Cash and Scholar Dollars of campus housing non-residents will remain valid after the end of the fall semester if you are enrolled for spring semester. If you are not enrolled in spring semester, the card will be inactivated and all balances forfeited as of the last day to add/drop classes for spring semester. Dining Dollars and Scholar Dollars of campus housing residents remain valid only if you are returning on campus residents; otherwise, these balances will be forfeited as of the last day of the fall semester.
End of Spring Semester: Cat Cash balances will remain valid after the end of the spring semester if you are enrolled for upcoming fall semester. If you are not enrolled for upcoming fall semester, your balance will be forfeited as of the last day of add/drop period of fall semester. Please Note: All Dining Dollars and Scholar Dollars are forfeited as of the last day of the spring semester.
