RSU Financial Aid Director Honored
Kelly Hicks, director of financial aid at Rogers State University, was recently recognized as an emerging leader among the state's financial aid officers.
Hicks received the 2013 Philo Brasher Emerging Leadership Award from the Oklahoma Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators at its annual conference in Tulsa last month. She has led the university's financial aid office since 2012, following more than a decade of service to the office. She started her career at RSU in 1999 in the career services office before transferring to financial aid in 2001.
"I am humbled to have received this award, but I think it speaks volumes about the work our financial aid staff does to help our students find the best options that make college financially achievable," she said.
The Philo Brasher Emerging Leadership Award was established by Southwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators in honor of Philo Brasher, an active member of the organization who had served many years with the professional group. Recipients of the honor have served OASFAA and made a contribution to the association. Each state in the southwest region determines their criteria for the award and nominates members to receive the honor.
