RSU Presents Feb. 13 Screening of Ben Affleck-Directed 'Argo'

Rogers State University's Fine Arts Film Series is presenting Ben Affleck-directed "Argo" at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Will Rogers Auditorium on RSU's Claremore campus. The show is free and open to the public.

Dr. Hugh Foley, professor of fine arts at RSU, said that "Argo" has earned critical acclaim during this year's movie awards, including Golden Globes in the categories of "Best Drama" and "Best Director."

"RSU Fine Arts Films series seeks to bring in interesting films that have a high artistic merit," said Foley. "As director of the RSU Fine Arts film series and cinema professor, I choose films for the series by being aware of new and important movies, as well by talking with colleagues and students about what they think might be a good fit for campus."

"Argo" is a fast-paced and exciting film about rescuing Americans during the Iran hostage crisis in 1979. The movie depicts the true story of using a bogus film project to rescue six Americans who escaped the hostage takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran by hiding out in the Canadian Embassy. With the idea of posing the Americans as part of the film crew, the Ben Affleck-directed vehicle chronicles the tension surrounding the effort.

The film is rated R and is free and open to the public.
