RSU Theatre Presents Bill Cain's "Equivocation"

The Rogers State University theatre department will present Bill Cain's "Equivocation" Thursday, Nov. 3 to Saturday, Nov. 5 and Wednesday, Nov. 9 to Saturday, Nov. 12.

All performances will begin at 7:07 p.m., except for the Wednesday, Nov. 9 matinee which will start at 2:07 p.m. All performances will be held in the Will Rogers Auditorium on RSU's Claremore Campus, 1701 W. Will Rogers Blvd.

Equivocation is the story of a playwright named Shag - short for Shagspeare - who is commissioned by King James to write a play about the Gunpowder Plot. As Shag investigates, he discovers that what the government wants him to write is not the truth. Can his conscience allow him to write a piece of overt propaganda?

"The play is highly theatrical," says David Blakely, director of the RSU theatre program. "I think the audience will have a great time. It is funny, thrilling, and moving – sometimes all at the same time."

The production features Jerry Sipp, a professional actor, as Shag. Sipp is a member of Actors Equity, and has toured the country for years, including a 17-year tour of the play "The Actor and The Assassin" in which he played John Wilkes Booth.

"Bringing Jerry in gives RSU students an opportunity to act with a working professional, and the students are having a great time," Blakley said.

Adult tickets are available for $10 and seniors may attend for $6. Admission is free for RSU students, faculty and staff. For tickets call the box office at 918-343-6882.
