Counseling Services To Host Free Depression Screenings Oct. 14
Students enrolled at Rogers State University are invited to participate in National Depression Screening Day on Oct.14.
RSU Counseling Services will host a free event for students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Centennial Center's Conference Room A.
Students will have the opportunity to complete a written self-assessment and meet one-on-one with a mental health professional, according to Jessica Heavin, licensed professional counselor and coordinator of counseling services at RSU. Those who appear to need further evaluation can discuss the possibility of referral to local treatment services.
Some of the questions included in the screening are:
Students participating in National Depression Screening Day will have access to a chocolate fountain and will be entered to win donated $25 gift certificates from the RSU bookstore and Quik Trip.
In addition, two student organizations, Psi Chi and the Community Counseling Student Association, will have tables of information about mental health for students.
