RSU Stratton Taylor Library Joins State Publications Depository System
Stratton Taylor Library has been named a member of the Oklahoma State Publications Depository System and now offers library users increased access to state government documents.
The Oklahoma Publications Clearinghouse, part of the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, was created in 1978 by state legislation to establish the state publications depository system. The system collects and preserves publications from all state agencies.
The clearinghouse also distributes agency publications to 19 state depository members including RSU. Materials from the clearinghouse are available in the Government Depository, Room 310, on the third floor of the Stratton Taylor Library.
An RSU library card is not required to use resources from the clearinghouse and a computer is available to access electronic documents.
Publications from the clearinghouse now available in the RSU Stratton Taylor Library include periodicals, newsletters, reports, guides, handbooks, brochures, annual reports and posters.
These publications are a source of information about the state's policy-making process and a source for state statistical data, said Alan Lawless, director of the Stratton Taylor Library.
"T the RSU community as well as the general public now will now benefit from access to such diverse and interesting state publications from the Oklahoma Publications Clearinghouse," Lawless said.
One of the best examples of a helpful resource is the Oklahoma Water Atlas, a publication by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board that includes detailed maps containing recreational features, topography, access points, and other important information about the state's most popular lakes, he said.
